Marois, Laurie

Her creations well reflect her versatile personality,‎ colourful and unpredictable and with a different unique touch with each concept.

Born in Normandin, Québec in 1988, Laurie Marois has always had‎ an inbred talent for all forms of art. Courses in visual arts were beneficial towards her academic progress if not decisive to her scholarly success.

At the age of 19, she discovers her interest in painting and exhibits her first pieces at the end of her collegiate ‎course of studies. After courses in fine arts in Jonquière and a completion of a degree in arts education at the University of Québec in Chicoutimi, she installs herself in Québec where she combines being an educator as well as a painter.

She becomes known for her charitable contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, Operation Enfant-Soleil as well as her contracts with the Caisse Polulaire Desjardins ‎regarding the boreal plains.

Following her first exposition in the fall of 2013 in the library in Saint-Félicien, the‎ Society of Living Artists of the city invite her to exhibit her pieces. She receives the prize "Coup de Coeur du Public" (favorite of the public) followed by several invitations to diverse exhibitions. Her works are exposed for a year at the café-bistro La Maison Banville which propels sales as far as New York. Thereafter, she opens a page on Facebook. The publicity allows her to put aside other work and to spend more time on her new career. For the first time, her creations are exposed in an art gallery, Galerie Guylaine Fournier in Baie-saint-Paul.

A veritable "jack of all trades", Laurie does not confine herself to one particular style. Sh‎e flourishes as much with the abstract as she does with the figurative and she loves the challenge of new mediums. Her creations well reflect her versatile personality, colourful and unpredictable
