Talbot

His research centers as much on the pictorial as well as the sculptural.

His works are painted and sculpted at once.

Alain Talbot was born in L’Ancienne Lorette in 1957.

From a very young age, he spent most of his time drawing.

At the age of 10, he received a projector as a gift and thus began to broaden the scope of his drawings.

His secondary studies focused on the visual arts and advertising design.

At a young age, he devoted himself to sculpturing and in 1978, he started to paint with oil paint.

Career wise, he entered the hairdressing field and rapidly began to approach hair styling as a mass, like a sculpture.

For many years, he taught his particular techniques to many other professionals in this field.

He returned to sculpturing with wood in 1990. He then provided training to others at all levels from beginner to advanced.

In 1999, he founded “ Coffretier d’Art” which produced artistic boxes.

He then became a professional craftsman and a member of the Conseil des Métiers d’Art du Québec.

He earned numerous prizes, distinctions, grants and recognition.

In 2000, he started to sculpt with stone and undertook training in carving and cutting with Madame Monique Brunet. With  M. Claude Hunot a jewelry sculptor, he then trained in polishing and cutting precious and semi-precious stones.

In 2016, he founded the Galerie Pellan in Limoilou with four other Québec artists. That same year, he became a member-organizer of the group “Rendez-Vous d’Art Contemporain”, also in Québec.

He adds an intensity to his work by exploring textures and layers of thickness. His research centers as much on the pictorial as well as the sculptural.

His works are painted and sculpted at once.
